Mr. Rochester's dad isn't doing very well so the last several weekends we've made the four hour trek to visit with him. We're very glad that we can spend this time with Mr. Rochester's family. Mr. Rochester and his dad have spent much of the time watching sports together. You can't see it but Mr. Rochester is sporting an LA Dodgers t-shirt. "Let's go, Dodgers!" or as Trotwood would say, "Do-Dee, do-Dee!"

The card rides have definitely been a challenge. Trotwood just isn't the sort of boy who wants to sit still for any period of time. We tried getting him to watch DVDs in the car but that usually only works for about 30 minutes. And the only DVD Trotwood is remotely interested in that we own is Disney's Bolt and he's only interested in that because there are dogs in it. We've tried books, toys and music and yes, even neck pillows. That pillow entertained him for about 2 minutes.
I am so open to suggestions on how to keep a 20-month old entertained on long car rides!

Indian Butter Chicken

Last night I made this Indian Butter Chicken recipe over white Jasmine rice and it was divine! Usually, Mr. Rochester and I eat long grain brown rice but I just knew Jasmine rice would be perfect with this dish. And it was! A few years ago, Mr. Rochester and I were in London and we met my cousin for dinner. She ordered Butter Chicken and I had a taste of it. Ever since then I've wanted to eat it again but never got the chance...until now. I'm not sure how authentic this recipe is - all I know is that it was absolutely delicious and super easy to make. The $11 we spent on the cardamom was totally worth it (we already had the other spices the recipe needed). This is definitely going to be made in our household again!

Shop Hop

Last Friday, my mom came to visit and we participated in the Spring Fling Shop Hop where we visited many of the quilt stores in this area. We've done this every spring for the past three years and it's so much fun.
We shopped.
And we hopped.
And we got t-shirts.
Because I feel like I already have so many unfinished projects, I made myself be really good and I didn't buy anything. However, now I'm regretting my decision just a teensy bit. One of the stores we visited had some beautiful orange fabric in just-my-style patterns and upon closer inspection, I found out that some of the fabric was from Denyse Schmidt's Katie Jump Rope line! That's not something you see every day at fabric shops in this area. I'm proud of myself for resisting and I think it's time to finish up some of my current projects before I go buying more materials!
